Welcome to our web site!

The holiday rental gite in Brittany, La Vilaine Vue sleeps 4 people comfortably with all the amenities expected from a holiday cottage. The cottage is situated in the southern corner of Ille et Vilaine at the top of the village of La Louzais,  so you can enjoy the view and tranquillity of  this area.  It has a south facing fenced garden. The large patio is a real sun trap. There is a decking area with a covered gazebo. New shrubs have been planted and there are the mature trees around the garden which will offer some shade in summer. There are spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the River Vilaine from the brow of the hill.

There are some interesting walks over the hill and down to the river.  The footpath and cycle path follow along by the side of the river, with some rustic benches where you can rest and enjoy the view. There is also a road that runs in both directions beside the river with plenty of parking spaces. It is ideal for picnics and for fishing.

Fed-up with the constant noise of traffic and everyday hustle and bustle then this is the place for you to chill out. In a perfect location the loudest sound is that of the birds in the nearby trees and the summer breeze as it rustles the leaves.

The peace and tranquility of this place, unfortunately, cannot be truly conveyed over the internet.  It has a relaxing feel and you will soon appreciate the soothing, calming affect of La Louzais and the river Vilaine valley.

DON'T WORRY IF YOUR FLIGHTS TO FRANCE ARE  NOT AVAILABLE ON A SATURDAY FROM YOUR LOCAL AIRPORT - SIMPLY CONTACT US WITH YOUR PROPOSED FLIGHT DETAILS AND WE WILL TRY TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR REQUEST.

Around the area are lakes, rivers and woodland making it ideal for walking, rambling, cycling, boating, carp, river or lake fishing, bird watching, pony trekking and horse riding. (See Local Activities for things to do in this area.)

The nearby village of Langon is just 2kms away and has the following amenties: Post Office, village supermarket, chemist, excellent  butchers, bakery with a fantastic range of cakes and pastries, cafe, bar and a resturant, service station pumps (near the bakery), garage and hairdressers. Here in the village is an art gallery, a  pottery and horse riding stables at La Buntais. Visit the little chapel and the church with its unusual tower in the village square.

There are many places to visit in Ille et Vilaine including the city of Rennes, the capital of Brittany. Don't miss the old quarter around St. Annes Place with the fantastic Parlement Building, Saint Georges Abbot's Residence, Palais du Commerce, Saint Pierre Cathedral and Place de Lices.  Across the river you will find newer shopping centres.

The Motor Musuem
at Loheac (Manoir de L'Automobile) is the biggest in France and has over 400 vehicles, old and new, including 18 Formula 1 cars plus much more. There is also a racing track where you can have a trail run around the course. Don't miss this fantastic place.

St. Just has Megaliths and a burial mound and is said to be the second most important monument site in France. Stroll around the standing stones or take a guided tour in the summer months. Walk down to the Etang de Val and watch the rock climing at the far end of the lake.

Redon is our nearest large town with many shops and out-of-town stores. Here the Nantes-Brest Canal crosses the river Vilaine and in summer the flowers are very colourful. There are many restaurants and creperies. Stroll through the old quarter and the Port de Plaissance.
(For more to do in this area visit the Information Office in Redon)

As well as the department of Ille et Vilaine there is also easy access to both Loire Atlantique and Morbihan regions making it ideal for exploring. Visit the Loire Valley with its vineyards and chateaux, St. Nazaire, the salt fields and the fortied town of Guerande, the famous beach of La Baule, and the beautuiful city of Nantes.

Go west to see the quaint old port and town of Vannes with its timber framed buildings and cobble streets on the Golfe of Morbihan, the chateau at Josselin. Visit the Breton villages of La Gacilly and Rochefort-en-terre with the artisans shops and art galleries.
